I don’t know if any of these nuggets of knowledge show up in any version of the game, but you never know, maybe you can earn a piece of the pie.

  • Trivial Pursuit is available in 26 different countries in 17 languages.
  • There are 42 different editions of the game.
  • Two journalists invented the game in Canada, eh.
  • Hasbro bought all rights to the game in 2008 for $80 million dollars.

  2. The New York Times article is fascinating. The line that most surprised me: “In the 1980s, Trivial Pursuit was outselling Monopoly.” Wow. No wonder Hasbro paid $80 million for it.

    1. I found that very surprising as well. It’s longevity as a game has fascinated me ever since I realized how quickly some of the questions get outdated. Playing with an old set a few years ago, one of the correct answers was the country of “East Germany”. That was when I realized how and why they keep remaking the game!
